Yeah, on my '98 I have the "elephant ear" crash bars, and they add maybe 10 minutes total to the time it takes for the oil change. And I dont find that it's much of a hassle to completely remove the foot peg mount. Just would like an easy way to put the whole 3 1/4 quarts in all at once, instead of one bottle of oil at a time.
As an aside, a local widow just sold her late husband's '82 XV750 for $500 to my boss. Needs the starter fix, and hasn't run for about 3 years, but the carbs'd been drained. If he's lucky he'll be able to throw in a battery, add some gas, and if the starter'll spin he can ride it a bit 'til he gets the shim kit. He already has an XV500 and a GL, so he at least knows a little bit about bikes.
Just got a call from him this afternon. He and his son are riding from Oroville, CA to Minot, SD. They seem to've made it across most of NV today without getting rained on, so their trip's been good so far. His son's on a Kawi 500 Vulcan. Might be an interesting story to tell, about riding that far on a 500cc bike. ;^)

My 98 1100 does. And I added the big engine guards which have to be loosened
and moved too. But considering how often the Yamaha dealership screwed up
the gaskets for the filter I decided to learn and do it myself even tho it's
a pain. I'd rather it not be dripping after the work is done!!!
