I have mounted both a Garmin eTrex Legend
and a Garmin 2610 on my 750. ( Not both at the same time )
The Legend was mounted in a RAM mount and
has been on several 1000 mile trips with no problem. The 2610 has been on
several trips of several hundred miles ( I just got it ), mounted in a Garmin mount with a RAM ball and extension, has not had any
problems either,
The Legend is battery powered or powered via
a cigarette plug with optional cable. The 2610 must be wired to the bike, no
batteries.

Subject: Re: [Virago] GPS
handlebar mount
Has anyone mounted a GPS on their handlebars? I've seen two
different styles of mounts and am wondering if vibration would be a problem.
The simplest mount I've seen is pretty much a ring with a slot to slide the
round attachment on the back of the GPS into. It's small also and wouldn't sit
up too high. (I don't have a windshield.)
The other style is a ring with a swiveling arm that looks
like it'd have less vibration, but I'm only guessing. I've used zip ties the
only time I've attached it with a layer of foam between the unit and the bar. A
mount would be easier tho.
