FWIW
You might be lighting up on your foot pressure with a bit of ride
time, something subtle enough that you wouldn't be aware of it. The
Virago has a reputation for needing to be "Told" to change
gears, not "Asked". By this I mean that the bike needs a bit of force
and a "Snap" with the gear selector. Shift with a bit more purpose and
see how it goes.
