is in! Quick stupid question, would I be wise to disconnect the battery before unplugging old wires and plugging in the new ones? And is disconnecting the hot wire good enough or do I have to pull the whole battery out and disconnect both? I hate things that go ZAP which explains my ignorance.

Another suggestion I received was to plug in the wires and test the switch before I mount it on the handlebars. Just in case it's not the problem!
