I've been reading these articles too, (yes American Iron Mag)... they have been discussing this over the last three issues... the magazine guys seem to be a bit afraid too and are urging all shop owners that install custom parts to speak up before it is too late. And yes,,, the fine is $10K per day per incident per the articles I've read.

Seems as though EPA is now starting to crack down on bikes with non-stock components, both new and old. Law has been on the books since '79 and lots of people and shops figured that since it hadn't been enforced all this time, it never would be.
Folks can be hit with fines of up $10k per day.
