Hummm.....if true, one could say 'loud pipes will attract EPA attention'
With all the PVC out gassing, will probably have to get a certified seat
too!
Ya know Rob, if you use two layers of foil with the same sides facing
each other
you will have protection from outside and from within.... unless choose
the wrong side,
in which case it acts like a RF amplifier, so, for maximum protection do
a reverse 4 layer job.
One might also put a layer or two on your feet to protect from stray
ground reflected radiation too.

Last evening, I was waiting for my wife and noticed a story listed on
the cover of American Iron (I think) magazine.
Seems as though EPA is now starting to crack down on bikes with
non-stock components, both new and old. Law has been on the books since
'79 and lots of people and shops figured that since it hadn't been
enforced all this time, it never would be.
Folks can be hit with fines of up $10k per /day/.
Multiply that by the number of just HD dealers that've put on Screamin'
Chicken (or any after-market) parts, and there won't be any need to
raise taxes on us smokers any more.
If you can't prove that your bike is no different when it comes to
emissions, and it may cost dealers as much as $10K per bike to prove
that, then any mods done by dealer or owner on any post '79 bike would
be in violation.
The story even purports that by adding a bigger rear tire you're
changing ! ;engine response.
I think that in Calif., CARB (the air resources board) says they'll
allow vehicle mods if the manufacturer can show test results for any
part they want to sell.
Wonder if I'll have to switch from my Uni air filter back to paper and
remove the marbles from my AIS pipes?
Would we only be allowed to run factory-specified oil?
What if I have the foil in my helmet with the shiny side facing the
wrong way?
