I won't pretend to know but belt is supposed to better for power transfer, doesn't loose torque like a shaft, better for maintenance then a chain but not as trouble free as a shaft. We stopped to gas up once in Michigan's UP and a guy there on a sporty was trying to call around for a tow and tranny work. Thought he had busted it. I was looking at his bike thinking, damn that's a shiny belt....hey, there ain't no belt! He had broken it. Probably because he didn't keep up changing it or adjusting it.

I'll look forward to your ride report but will still be doubtful. Looking at the profile of the new bike I'd be leaning forward to hang on to the bars. The speedo is in the tank instead of the handlebars which means I'll have to take my eyes off the road ahead of me to look down. And a belt drove? Gotta wonder. I remember my little 400 chain drive back in 76 and the pain in the arse of keeping it oiled, etc. Am I too spoiled or just satisfied in my old
age?

I love my Virago!

I test road a Stratoliner at the Long Beach show. I will find my write up

Agreed. Seems like Yami has evolved their own sense of style in the
last
few years. Still the "big beefy" but streamlined with a pretty
distinctive style.
Still wonder why they don't, given all the rage over the custom chopper scene, produce a factory chopper (contradiction in terms?). Something
raked out and minimalist that has that OCC or West Coast flavor but
sells
in the $10,000 neighborhood. Retain the 1850 twin, FI and such but put it a frame and rake that is more "chopperesque". Kinda like they did
in
'84 with the Virago.
Wonder why they don't?
