Thanks Jeremy,

Yes, it is the rear one. I get about 2 drops of oil everytime I stop. I will take your advise and put a little silicone on it. I have both a Clymer and a Haynes manual, but neither show the inside of the tensioner. I quess I need to look at the parts manual and see if they give an exploded view. I don't think I will get energetic enough to tear it apart. If the silicone works, that should suffice.

Thanks again

Steve

"I have resently notice a couple of drops of oil coming from the tensioner
plug when I stop after a ride. Is this something that I need to be
concerned
about? It is not coming from the gasket, but from out of the adjustment
screw hole around the rubber plug. I have a '91 virago 750."

The black plugs do not seal at all. I think there must be an o-ring inside
the tensioner that is supposed to keep oil completely away from the plug.
However, mine leaks too - the rear cylinder, right? I took the little cap
off the tensioner, cleaned it all up, siliconed the plug and silicone
sealed the cap back on. No more leakage.
