Well, there's MSRP and then there's OTDP (out the door) and almost 3 years ago OTDP on my wife's '02 XV250 was $4039 and change. By the time they tack on all the California smog, taxes, etc. it makes a bit of a difference.
And registration and insurance on a brand new bike stay high for a few years.
Who knows, with the price of gas these days the bike could be gone already.
