I'm wondering about protecting my Cobras from the heat shield and
clamps. I'm thinking gasket paper (should be able to take the heat)
and maybe cutting and gluing (with thin film of RTV sealant) to the
back of the clamp and shield bracket. What's a better way?

I'm such a sucker. I went to a local custom shop during lunch break
just to see what they had and lo and behold hanging on the wall were
the flame cut out heat shields. Guy was really nice. I told him what
I wanted them for and he was pretty sure I could tease it open a bit
to accommodate my Cobras. He took his demo to the back room and
leaned on it a tad and thought it could be done without destroying
them if a guy were careful. What's a guy to do? Standing in a shop
with shiny chrome in hand? I shelled out the dough. I only bought
one for the upper pipe (mostly because I fear my wife's wrath).
