Good point, Larry! When I rode 1017 straight thru a few years ago I averaged
about 80 to 85 most of the route (pretty much a straight shot from TX to MN)
and when I got on the bike the next morning my oil light was on. I was
worried at first that something major was wrong and I was a thousand miles
from home but a biker buddy told me it was normal considering the speed I
was doing.

The next year when I headed to Denver and went just a little fast thru west
Texas I was sure to check the oil in Pueblo that evening. Yup! Need to top
it off some! I now carry a quart with me on long hauls just for that
purpose.

If I had a digital camera I'd be asking you all if the "blow off" is the
cause of the dirty spot on my case. I keep thinking it's a leak but my mech
is telling me it's nothing to worry about, it's blow off.

Where would us Virago folks expect to see the oil blowing off or is this
something that you shouldn't see?
