Yup... someone, please go check it out!!!! Visually the two covers are
very similar and since they are both essentially the same engine, one
would think that they might possibly be interchangeable... however, I
wouldn't bet my last buck on it.

Not too surprising. I was hoping that somebody on the list would have a
friend in the salvage business. They would probably be more likely to
have tried an actual part to part fit, AND be willing to talk about it.
My guess is that Jardine just has too much going on to care about "Old"
bikes.

Greetings Everybody
Here's a question for those that have access to or know of a part number
crossover. The V-Star is badged by Yamaha as the XVS 1100, and the oil
filter cover looks substantially the same as the cover on our Virago's.
The exploded parts lists that I know of show the same basic design with
the check valve on the inside, etc. My question is, are they
dimensionally the same? In other words, could you take the oil filter
cover from a XVS1100, put it on the Virago XV1100 engine and have it fit
and function the same as the stock cover.
For the enquiring minds that want to know why I am interested, Jardine
has an oil filter relocation kit for the XVS1100 to simplify the oil
filter change process. IF< the covers are the same this might be a nice
modification to the Virago. Spendy, but hey, it's chrome.
Any input welcome.
