I'd say that e-bay is fairly safe... if ya scr*w your
buyers and you get more then 2 bad reports... E-Bay
will ban you from their site... so it's a sort of a
checks & balance, self controlling program...

I got my Virago on an ebay auction last November.  Actually I did
everything wrong -- bought a bike from a brand new seller with zero
feedback, no photos of the bike, minimal information on the description.
But I paid $2000, plus shipping and tiedowns and soforth, and ended up
with Jenny.  She'd been in storage sevaeral months and needed a carb
cleaning and new battery, so all in all I paid around $2600 for her, a
1995 Virago with 66,700 miles, a Mustang touring seat, and slash-cut
Jardines.  I figure I got a great deal!
