"Airhorns are tempting me, what shield do you have? I have the yamaha classic
v your shield is similar in design but apears bigger, I don't think I'd have
the room the behind the shield, hmmmmm"

I use a National Cycle N2210 Touring Heavy Duty;

I am fairly tall at 6'1" and the shield comes up above my eyes at 20" above
the headlight and it is 22" wide. The shield is adjust as far forward as it can
go and tilted as far back at the top also and the horns are a snug fit.
The installation that Craig has done on his, being close to horizontal can
also catch and accumulate water, as my experience with having to install more
than one set on my truck has taught me, it will cause the disc inside of the
horn to corrode to the point where it will not sound. It is advisable that the
horns be mounted at least at a slightly downward angle in order to drain, or
during riding in the rain where you think that it might be getting water in the
horn, try honking the air horns periodically to remove any water that is
accumulated inside. Insects accumulated inside can also be a problem and the
solution is the same as for water. Adding a cover as Craig has suggested can help in
these situations, but they also tend to mute the sound also. To keep the bugs
out of the air horns on my truck I have placed a piece of screen just inside
of the opening of the trumpet of the horn and secured it with a couple of spots
of clear RTV silicone, it has been in there for over two years and I haven't
had any kind of water or bug problem. If you mount the horns at a downward
angle as I have done on my 1100, then neither problem is an issue.
