JC Whitney has a good deal on what I believe to be Saddlemen seats. List the one I want at $199. Other places have for $330+. not sure if they listed 250s or not though. It was in a catalogue I just got the other day, no where to be found on their website. One sold on ebay a couple weeks ago for $300, seller told me he got it from JC Whitney last year. I think they are putting gel pads in them now.
Santa, are you monitoring this list?

I got a used late model Harley soft-tail seat for $80 and put it on my Virago 250. It's more seat than bike, but it's feels better. I just had to
make 2 new brackets to fasten it down.

Hello,

Here's some input on the old problem with the Virago seat.
I have an '85 700 with stock seat and it's pretty uncomfortable,
especially
for my wife, on long trips.

A while ago someone on the list suggested using the wooden-bead cushion
that
was a big fad--supposedly loved by cab drivers--back in the 80's (?).

I tried this out finally; I found one for 9.99 at Pep Boys. It fits
pretty
well. Just drape it over the Virago seat and tie it down with the strings provided. There is a long narrow part, that was meant to go over the top
of
a car seat. I just stuck it through the sissy bars, rolled it up, and put
a
bungee strap around it.

Took the bike out for about 100 miles today and I think seat comfort was alot better. It feels cooler too. (Temperature not "coolness" cuz it's
not
exactly that....)

I'll try it out tomorrow for a lot longer of a ride and see.

Ray
