Other ways to quieten pipes:

Drain fuel tank
Put in gear with side stand down
Do chores around house (also stops whining)
Remove plug caps
Loose ignition keys
Blow out moisture and refill with fresh tobacco
Replace washers in faucets (getting used to Merry Can)
Fit extra pipe clips on long pipe runs
Fit bigger ear plugs
Shove skunk up pipe, it'll still go like stink
Shoot the organist
Leave button marked "Start" alone.
