Patrol car, here. Lights everywhere. I mean, EVERY-freaking-where...top
(best available), front and rear AND side windows, back of the rear-view
mirror, even strobes in the parking lights and opposing flashing (or
wigwagging) headlights. Was parked smack-dab in the middle of an
intersection, shielding an injured person from a car/bicycle collision, when
a 52-year-old man looked up, saw the yellow light, looked down, saw my car,
and plowed INTO it at approximately forty-nine miles per hour. JUST missed
me and the earlier accident.
Why? Three guesses...naaah, I'll tell ya. *clears throat* HE SAID HE
NEVER SAW ME THERE.
Mine is not an isolated case, as Zak can attest. People apparently see, at
times, only what they wish to see. That's one of the reasons why chases are
very quickly becoming a thing of the past; the radio is much quicker than
any vehicle, we'd find ya later, and the liability was too great to risk
injury or the possibility of even a frivolous lawsuit.
I digress. I got away from the black leather stuff a while ago (although
my fiancee still likes me in it *heh*...Aerostitch stuff is bright 'n purty
'n heavy-duty. And I see just FINE in my peripheral vision from my HJC
LT-20 full-face helmet, thank you very much.
Ride safe (and be seen).
Steven

I drove a 56,000 lb. lime-green fire truck (tender, Jimbo) with rotating red
lights on all four corners and the loudest air siren this side of Civil
Defense. Cars couldn't see me either.
