My 3 penneth ..

I'm one of the 'poor folk' as I don't think any of my bikes have had a vac fuel
tap (possibly only my XT 350?) and I just turn them (one on each side) on and off
at the ends of the day / journey.

In the event of a 'off', I suppose it's possible for a 'vac tap' not to allow
fuel to leak past the float bowls but what of the breathers and tank cap etc?
Also, you only need a splash of fuel on the wrong place to start a fire and what
would that do to the plumbing / electric's?

Funny thing.... I was given an MZ ETZ 'Saxon Tour' that had been in a shop fire.
The back was pretty well burnt off and the flames from the burning saddle /
battery etc had burnt the back of the fibreglass tank (it looked like 'cheese on
toast') and the heat had melted the screen, clocks, mirrors, grips etc. When I
got it home I drained nearly two gallons of fuel from the burnt tank? (It was
back on the road 2 weeks later costing 300 pounds to rebuild ..sold for 500 a
year later ..)

All the best ...
