I would label the Mac and the HD in the same category. Nice machines but way
over price on parts and labor for what you get. Let alone the availability of
them. You do not see a giant section of video cards for Macs, game or software.
And if there are some made for Mac they will cost 3 times as much. Friend does
Mac service; going rate is 200hr in town, 50-75 for a PC.

With a PC I can build any design I want where Mac you just got to buy their
version, no home building parts available at reasonable prices.
I can build a screaming PC for half the price of even a regular PC off the
shelf. You cannot build a Mac off the shelf for less than retail.

Right now I have dual Intel p3800@916mhz /
 512 of PC150 sdram@157mhz/
Gforce2 TI pro 64 megs of DDRam, gpu 250mhz, ddram 400mhz/
On a Msi 694d pro ar, ata 100 with raid.

Dual boot Win2k pro sp3 / Win me

And at anytime I can just go buy a bigger cpu; ram; video; storage space and not
even need to ask will it work, just slap it in and go. And parts are super cheap
right now. You can build your own 3 Ghz performance monster gaming machine for
about 1,200.00. I have about 900.00 in parts mine but I built when prices were
high.

Now a Mac is good if you're a graphics artist or something but it is way to much
like a HD.

Download some benchmarks and lets race, Vrooom Vrooom Vrooom.
