I should have been clearer.  The strip goes outside of everything but 
the bolt head.  The o-ring is usually where the leak is.  Get another 
o-ring from an auto or bearing supply store.  The Yamaha dealer won't 
find it.  If he does, it will be around $4. - $8.
Did you change the other 2 o-rings in the filter cover?
