To make sure I understand what you said, when I have
reassembled everything, I should not see the top of
the strip (where the hole is) over the outside of the
filter cover.  Which is kind of weird, because that is
where it seems to fit best, but is not shown in the
manual.  As I have it assembled now, in exploded
fashion, there is the bolt head, the strip, the filter
cover, the little O-ring for the bottom bolt and
finally the case.  And it is still leaking.
I did drop the bike twice (how embarassing) since the
last oil change, plus it has been parked on the side
stand, plus lots of cold winter starts using some
choke.  Perhaps I should add the new oil and see if
the problem persists.  Seem reasonable?
I do not run it in prime position.  If there is a
problem, it gets fixed before I ride. This philosophy
is driving me nuts today, as my bike sits without oil
enjoying the 60 degree weather.  Ug.
