Yes.....the engine serial number for the 1983 XV920K starts with the number
24M-000101 to .... 24M- The 1983 XV920MK model has engine serial number
starting with 27Y-000101 to ..... The 1982 XV920J has engine serial number
starting with 10L-000101 to .... While the 1982 XV920RJ has the engine
serial number starting with 5H1-100101 to ....
I found this info in the Clymer repair manual for Viragos 1981 to 1999.
I don't remember if these are the same numbers that are found on the frame.
I doubt it. I seem to recall that the number is similar but the frame
number has more info concerning the model and year of the bike. I will
check my registration papers later today. They are in my truck.

Actually, Dan, what messes me up (in addition to other things) is that I
have an "M" with no "K" and as I recall a solo "M" is not listed.
Any ideas?
