I was at an auction a few years ago and the micro fiche machines (there were
3 or 4 of them) sold for about 5 bucks each. I sure regret not buying one.
Very weird auction. There was a good group of people at the start but after
the initial stuff went, only a handfull of us were left to bid on the
thousands of surplus government office furnishings left over. I was there
only to buy a metal closet like you see in schools (I forget the English
name) so I could lock up my firearms. I ended up also buying 4 nice office
chairs on wheels that swivel and rock at 3 bucks each, a filing cabinet for
5 bucks, a 6 foot long computer desk with a swivel platform for the monitor
at on end (5 bucks) an 8 foot table with folding legs (5 bucks) and a
handfull of other smaller office furnishings for 1 or 2 dollars. My pickup
truck was full. The company who auctioned off the stuff swore never to come
back to our region again.
I guess auctions are not popular around here. At another auction about 8
years ago, I bought an 88 Skidoo Safari 503 long track for 400.00. I still
have it. Works great. There was a bunch of people at the auction but no
one was bidding. That was the first and last snowmobile auction ever held
in the region.
Don't tell the locals.....but this place is a lot like Green Acres (which
still can be seen in French up here). The rest of the province of Quebec
agrees with me on that.
