If you really want to know all about it, read the tech stuff in the
bike and car magazines. I have told you only the basics, because
that is all I remember. I can tell you that a discussion of exhaust
tuning will take many pages of fine text, and unless you are race
tuning, most of it will not apply. Races engines are highly
engineered, and unsuitable for street use. When I was racing, I
carried several different pipes depending on the course. A general
purpose compromise is what you want on the street. Go for pipes that
sound good to you(many differences of opinion here) and just ride.
Except for slash cut Jardines, a set of spark plugs and oil changes,
I haven't done anything to my motor. 50K and it just runs fine. Oh
I forgot, I changed the air cleaner assembly for a foam Harley
unit with really noticeable results.
