Ouch!!!

Glad to hear your OK, but what a lousy way to end a ride.

Oil and water is a potential problem, also described as street scum and
fog or dew. You mentioned 70+ temps though, in Oregon at 70 there is no
dew left except in the shaded areas, was the corner in the shade?

Some time ago, and on a different bike, I hit a loose hex nut in a corner
and came close to loosing it. I can't imagine the odds of hitting a nut
but when you find yourself in the midst of a 20 mph flying 'W' on
pavement about the only odds that matter are the odds of surviving.
