this is correct. All HD VTR's are menu intensive when it comes to changing
formats, even the Sony HDW-M2100, when simply switching between NTSC and PAL
for 1080i. So even when you have the sync configured correctly, the menus
of the VTR (and NLE if inputting) have to be setup correctly.
If you are dealing with multiple decks (instead of just your trusty
HDW-500) - it ain't easy.
