yes, I think lucas was talking about split field edit, not split event...

I saw EDLs from DaVinci supporting it.  An event look like the following (I 
don't have a DaVinci edl with me, but it should look like this):

003 001    V    C         00:13:40:22.0 00:14:09:02.1 10:00:24:07.1
10:00:52:12.0
*event 003 source start=field 1 inclusive, source end=field 2 exclusive ...

I think the only editing software who can export an EDL of that type is 
discreet smoke (with their Multimaster feature).  Should be in symphony, too ;>
